My Study Plan Was Built Around My Optional Subject

I started preparing for the UPSC exam in my third year of college. I built a strong foundation by reading NCERTs and other basic books. I then moved on to more advanced topics, including the Indian economy, international trade, and development economics.

• I made sure to revise my notes regularly, using flashcards and concept maps to reinforce my understanding.
• I practiced previous year's question papers to get a sense of the exam pattern and difficulty level.

Balancing Studies and Extracurricular Activities

As a student, I was also involved in various extracurricular activities, including debating and public speaking. I had to balance my studies with these activities, which sometimes took a toll on my mental health.

• I had to learn to prioritize my tasks and manage my time effectively.
• I sought help from my friends and family when I needed it, and I didn't hesitate to ask for extensions or breaks when I needed them.

Developing a Strong Understanding of Current Events

I made it a point to stay updated on current events, reading newspapers and following news websites. I also attended seminars and conferences to learn from experts in the field.

• I practiced writing essays and answers to current events questions, using my understanding of the subject to craft well-argued responses.

The Interview Was a Turning Point for Me

The interview was a challenging experience, but it also taught me a lot about myself and my abilities. I was asked a range of questions, from my understanding of the Indian economy to my views on international relations.

Securing AIR 13 Was a Dream Come True

Securing AIR 13 in the UPSC CSE 2022 was a dream come true for me. It was a result of my hard work and dedication, and I was proud to have achieved it without coaching.
