I've always been fascinated by the way society functions, which is why I chose to study Sociology. My undergraduate degree in the subject not only deepened my understanding of social structures but also instilled in me a sense of empathy and compassion for those around me.
I began preparing for the UPSC exam about a year and a half before the actual test. I created a detailed study plan, which included setting aside dedicated time for each subject. I focused on understanding the concepts rather than just memorizing them. I also made sure to revise regularly, which helped me retain the information better.
One of the biggest challenges I faced during my preparation was staying motivated. There were times when I felt like giving up, but I reminded myself of my goals and the reasons why I wanted to become a civil servant. I also joined a study group, which provided me with a sense of accountability and support.
To overcome the challenges I faced, I employed several strategies. Firstly, I broke down my study material into smaller chunks, which made it easier to manage. I also created flashcards to help me memorize key terms and concepts. Additionally, I practiced answering sample questions, which helped me improve my time management skills.
The interview experience was both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. I was asked a range of questions, from my views on current events to my experiences as a Sociology student. I tried to be as honest and authentic as possible, while also showcasing my knowledge and skills.
Securing rank 45 in the UPSC exam was a dream come true. It was a culmination of all my hard work and dedication. I'm proud to have achieved my goal, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
